The United Nations has a person who reports on the rights of Aboriginal peoples all around the world. That person is called the Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Currently that person is Dr Albert J Barume.
Dr Albert K. Barume will visit Australia this year, from 2–13 November 2026.
Dr Barume will look at issues including land rights, selfdetermination, health, education, cultural heritage and justice. He will report to the Government and to the United Nations on how Australia is treating Aboriginal people. He will also make recommendations for change.
